Bob started his career by serving in the US Air Force. He served only two years of a four year term when he became ill with an arthritic condition in the Philippine Islands. While in the military his parents became Christians and within a few weeks after returning home he found salvation and was completely healed in the church of his parents. He pursued his vocation by completing a four year Industrial Electrical Apprenticeship and later opened his own electrical contracting business in 1966. In 1972 he experienced a definite call on his life to go back to school and prepare for full time ministry. He graduated with a BSL (Bachelor of Sacred Literature) Degree from Holmes Theological Seminary (now Holmes Bible College) in Greenville, S.C. He also completed his BA degree in World History from Central Wesleyan University in Central S. C.

He spent some years at Holmes Bible College serving one year as assistant to the president and three years as Dean of Students and taught Church History for three years.

In 1980 he became pastor of what is now Greensprings Chapel in Williamsburg, VA. In 1987 the church purchased property and developed a new campus.

Greensprings developed a very active missions department allowing him to do extensive travel. He did ministry in Nigeria, West Africa, and after the fall of Communism in Russia in the early 90’s he traveled several years ministering and establishing two Churches in Russia as well as two Churches in The Republic of Georgia. The travels included assisting a mission church in Netanya, Israel, and the Bethany Mission with Ignace Augustin in Les Cayes, Haiti. He also has a long lasting relationship with two Chinese missionaries who now live in America but spend 3 months a year in China. Under his direction funds were supplied for buildings and the start of three Bible colleges in China.

For the past six years Bob has served on the Board of Director for Christian Aid Mission in Charlottesville, VA and was recently elected by the Board of Directors to serve as treasurer.

He was instrumental in organizing a ministerial pastors/ministry leaders group about 15 years ago which is now known as the Association of Williamsburg Area Ministries. He has held the Chair position for that organization for several years.

He stepped down as senior pastor of Greensprings Chapel in 2008 and took a position on the Redemption Ministries’ Conference Leadership Council (CLC) serving two years in the position vacated by Randall Aldred. In the recent Quadrennial Conference he was elected to a four year term on the CLC board.

Bob and his wife Lawana still reside in Williamsburg, VA. They have three sons, Steve, Mark and Walter

Growing up in a Pentecostal Holiness church, Dayton Birt preached his first sermon when he was sixteen years old. However, soon after that, he encountered a time of rebellion, becoming addicted to drugs and alcohol. After a period of running from God and searching his soul, he finally came back to the Lord and was radically saved at the age of 18. Returning to his roots, he completed his BA in Religion from Emmanuel College (1980) and later received an MA in Christian Ministry from Regent University, graduating Magna Cum Laude (1988). He has now been in full time ministry for over 29 years. He served Liberty Christian Church, in Greensburg, PA, as an elder and Associate Pastor, starting a Christian School and a Bible Institute. In 1986 he became Senior Pastor at Living Word Church in Norfolk, VA serving for 12 years. From 1998 until 2007 he served on the Conference Executive Board and as the Executive Director of Church Education Ministries for Redemption Ministries. From 1997 until 2005, he also served on the General Church Education Ministries Board.

In June 2007, he was elected to serve as Bishop of Redemption Ministries, a network within the International Pentecostal Holiness Church (IPHC), of 71 churches and over 200 ministers. As Bishop he also serves on the Board of Trustees for Emmanuel College, on the Executive Board of Falcon Children’s Home and a member of the Council of Bishops for the IPHC. He is the founder of Redemption School of Ministry, which equips students and ministers for ministerial credentials and leadership development. He has been privileged to preach, teach and evangelize in Canada, Romania, Hungary, England, Russia, Rwanda, Togo, and in Guyana & Trinidad, where a School of Ministry/Leadership Institute has been established. He also serves as a Leadership Consultant and a Mobile Advanced Trainer (MAT) with Leadership Training International. His passion is mentoring and coaching, as well as, consulting churches in church health and revitalization.

Dayton and his wife Lynn celebrated their 30th anniversary in September 2010 and currently reside in Chester, Virginia. They have three children, Carrie, Kristin and Katy and four grandchildren.
